About Angela Cavanaugh

Angela has worked in the information technology field and telecommunications for more than 20 years, developing highly successful project and contracts targeted at state and local government as well as the education market and industry.

Specifically, her portfolio includes working with AT&T and Verizon for over 18 years providing virtually leadership on all major contracts with the Department of Education; Florida Information Resource Network (FIRN), Florida Distance Learning Network (FDLN), and the College Center for Library Automation (CCLA) in providing internet connectivity and technology for the school districts in Florida and the K-20 initiatives for the digital divide. In addition these projects accelerated eRate funding that placed technology in our most vulnerable students’ homes and schools.

Angela’s tenure in system integration placed her in a regional emerging technology position where she was instrumental in creating and deploying business partners to provide multi-million dollar applications and contracts with the State of Florida; MyLicense, MyFlorida.net, MyFlorida Marketplace, Video/Voice Conferencing, and State of Florida Internet Access (SoFIA). Most recently Angela has represented state contract providers in IT staff augmentation, business partnerships, and market development.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and currently pursuing a Masters in Project Management. Angela has also completed the distinguished Carnegie Mellon data and computer engineering certification and has completed sales certifications with AT&T, Cisco, Avaya, Siemens, and Nortel.

In the community, Angela is active in:

  • Susan G. Komen – Walk for a Cure
  • Seminole Boosters

Angela is a 5th generation Floridian and her Douglass family roots are from DeFuniak Springs. There are five generations of Douglass family members who have been elected School Board member in Walton County. Her family in Tallahassee is notorious in representing the disadvantaged, disabled, and equal advantages for minorities.
